GOLD MEDAL DEBATE


Congratulations to Robert MacCarthy, who won the 2011 GOLD-MEDAL DEBATE this morning, through opposing the motion that “The older generation has not given this generation good role models”.

It was an entertaining and witty debate and each speaker:
Alex Owens, Jonathan McKeon, Eugene Egan, Killian Connolly, Jesse Carley, Eoin Healy, Neil Barrett and Robert contributed hugely. Well done to each one of them.

I thank Chairman Mr Niall Byrne, Adjudicators Mr Sheil,
Ms Kelleher, Ms Canning, Ms Wallace, and Eoin Martin (Class of 2006) who had a very difficult task, such was the standard.

I particularly thank Ms Wallace for her organisation of not just this splendid occasion, but also of Senior Debating.

ROBERT MacCARTHY WILL BE THE VALEDICTORIAN AT BOTH THE GRADUATION LUNCH ON SUNDAY 22ND MAY AND PRIZE DAY ON SATURDAY 28TH MAY.
