ACCENTS

(This is the easiest way to type accents in MS Word Programmes)



ACUTE eg. á: CTRL + ‘ (= apostrophe) + LETTER

GRAVE eg. à: CTRL + ` + LETTER ( ` is found in the top lefthand corner of keyboard)

CIRCUMFLEX eg. â: CTRL + SHIFT + ^ (found over the number 6) + LETTER

UMLAUT/ TREMA eg. ä: CTRL + SHIFT + : (= colon) + LETTER

CEDILLA eg. ç: CTRL + , (= comma) + C

SCHARFES S eg. ß: CTRL + SHIFT + & (found over the number 7) + S

SPANISH ¿: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT + ?

SPANISH ñ: CTRL + SHIFT + ~ (= tilde) + n


NOTE: to get an accent on a capital letter press SHIFT just before you press the letter …
eg. Áine = CTRL + ‘ followed by SHIFT + a
